We have all heard of the phrase, "Too posh to push" when women schedule cesareans for non-medical reasons.
Well, here is another one called "Too Fat To Fit"- when an ultrasound estimates that your baby is too big to fit through your pelvis and a cesarean is scheduled.
A large baby is not a medical indication for a c-section. The ultrasound used to determine a baby's weight is actually an estimate and not exact. The exact weight of the baby is not known until it is put on the scale after birth.
If you have been told that your baby is too big to fit..remember to trust your body. Your body knows how to grow and birth a baby. It is very rare that a baby is too big to fit. If you feel pressure to have a cesarean for any reason, ask questions and educate yourself so you can make the decision that is best for you and your baby.
